Competition is an important means of evaluating an Arabian horse breeding program and Al Shaqab is enormously proud of its success at national, regional, and international levels.
While it is always a demanding endeavor to acquire a horse with championship potential, to breed one is a far more difficult task. Al Shaqab has risen to this challenge in a most spectacular fashion. Not only did the Gazal Al Shaqab win World Champion Stallion in 2001, but his son, Marwan Al Shaqab garnered the title of World Junior Champion Stallion that same year and was the unanimous choice of the judges. Gazal was subsequently leased to Poland, a great honor for any stallion, and the resulting offspring have won countless championships, including a World title. Just two years later the exquisite straight Egyptian stallion, Al Adeed Al Shaqab, also born at Al Shaqab, was named World Champion. Yet perhaps the greatest honor for any Arabian horse farm is having a lasting impact on other breeding programs and the Al Shaqab stallions are proven sires of champions throughout the world.
